Porin Päivä 24–27 Sep 2026

In Pori, Thu 24–Sun 27 Sep 2026

The 66th Porin Päivä is celebrated by doing things together across language borders and honouring the 100-year-old Pori Bridge under the theme ‘Yhdessä - över bron’.

The Pori Bridge is a concrete part of the cityscape, and at the same time a strong metaphor for connection, encounters and doing things together.

“Bridges connect people – whether they are bridges of the mind or bridges across the river. Being and doing together is at the heart of Porin Päivä,” says Pori-Seura.

In addition to the bridge anniversary, Pori-Seura – originally the Swedish-speaking Hembygdsföreningen i Björneborg – is celebrating its own 125th anniversary this year. The association is Finland’s second-oldest local heritage society after the Friends of Local History in Lohja. The society also wants to honour its original bilingual roots with the theme Yhdessä - över bron, together across the bridge.

“Kulturhuset Fiini, opened in January this year, has brought Pori’s Swedish-speaking community into focus in a new way, and now is an excellent opportunity to also remember the society’s own bilingual history.”

Pori-Seura encourages everyone to take part in the Porin Päivä programme – as a participant or an organiser. The theme does not have to appear in your own programme. But if it does, that is just right!

The Porin Päivä programme is made up of events organised by anyone. Pori-Seura aims to inspire anyone to create their own programme during Porin Päivä. An organiser can be a private person, association, community or company. The programme does not need to relate to the year’s theme – it can be anything from a yard flea market to orienteering, or grilling sausages to open doors.
